The Smiths did several different jobs for us when we were building our house. They poured a concrete parking pad, concrete patio, sidewalk and exterior concrete stairs. TJ and Tom built a retaining wall for our patio which is under our deck. They also graded our yard and dug a trench for putting electric in our detached garage. They arrived on time with the crew they needed to complete the job they were working on. I appreciated the time they took to make sure we were satisfied with all the work, but especially the retaining wall. I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted, and what it was going to look like, and they discussed options with me and made sure I was happy with it. We highly recommended Smith Excavation. They have completed many projects for us.
- They demolished a detached garage and leveled the property. They hauled all of the debris away.
- At this same property they excavated and paved the driver with stones.
- At our home they extended the width of our driveway with block pavers and filled in the area between our house and the neighbors house with large stones. It still looks beautiful!
- Most recently they had to back fill our backyard grass due to it sinking with dirt and soil and replanted the grass with seed. It is filling in nicely.

Smith Excavation replaced a sidewalk for me in 2023. I was getting water in my basement due to the old sidewalk sloping towards my house. TJ & Tom came to my house and I explained my problem to them.
They looked at my old sidewalk and immediately recognized the problem. They told me it would be an easy fix just by putting a 5 degree slope on the new walk. Within a couple of days TJ gave me their price. I asked when they could start and they told me as soon as the weather breaks. This was in late winter.
When the job started, they had the old sidewalk torn out in a day. The next two days involved preparing the site and framing the new sidewalk in.
The entire crew came early Saturday morning on the day the sidewalk was poured. The cement truck was at the house by 7 am. Concrete was pouring before 8 am. By 1 pm. the entire 50' sidewalk was poured and finished.
A couple of days later TJ & Tom came back to take out the 2'x4' framing and fill in where the framing was with topsoil and seed.
All in all the experience of working with Smith Excavation was very informative and professional to say the least.

I have known Tom and TJ for a long time. As an electrical contractor, they have been my go to guys for any underground work that comes up. TJ is a master of his craft and leaves the cleanest, smoothest trenches I've seen in my 26 years in the field. Their clean-up is also exceptional and the customers are always happy.
